Born in Thessaloniki and raised in Athens, Greece, Alcmene seeks to create narrative stories through filmmaking, photography, painting, and performance.
Film, theatre, fashion, music and performance art, act as the vanguard in the struggle against oppression. Alcmene recognizes the track record and future potential of these art forms to represent diversity and to promote empathy and awareness as they give voice and visibility to the lives of the voiceless and the invisible. Most importantly, her art acts as a catharsis of her personal experience. Additionally, it is also heavily influenced by old cinema, fine art, pop culture and almost always incorporates original poetry.
As a child, Alcmene was a student at the only museum of Greek Children's art in Athens (2004-2012) and has been exhibiting her work in various exhibitions ever since. Her studies include a BA & MA in Art History ('2019) from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, a Foundation in Acting & Scriptwriting from the Royal Conservatoire in Scotland, and Filmmaking at the National Film & Television School in London.
